The twins were born in Los Angeles, under the starsign Gemini. Their parents divorced in 1995. Their father, Dave Olsen, married another woman, McKenzie Taylor, and from that marriage, the twins' stepsiblings were born, Elizabeth and Trent. Now they live with their Mum in California.

They were stars at just 9 months old! Mary Kate and Ashley were chosen to share the part of baby Michelle Tanner in the new sitcom, Full House. Although they have arguments, like every twin, (mostly about clothes), they're best friends.

In 1991, the twins' father hired a manager for the twins, Robert Thorne, who also founded Dualstar Entertainment Group...owned by Mary-Kate and Ashley themselves. They released a few movies with that title, then to the surprise of everyone, Full House was cancelled. With their parents' divorce and the cancelling of Full House, this made critics believe the twins' career was over. They were wrong.

Dualstar released new films starring the Olsens, including 'It Takes Two', which didn't do very well at the box office. It gradually grew more popular, and in 1998, CDs, music videos, party videos, new movies and a new sitcom starring the twins were released.

Two Of A Kind
But best of all in 1998 was new TV-series Two Of A Kind. Two Of A Kind was a smart move of Dualstar. The twins were 12 years old when the sit-com started, and that's the age most child stars fade away. By releasing Two Of A Kind the twins could easily pass those "dangerous" years, unfortunately Two Of A Kind was axed after the first season. But that didn't stop the twins at all. Quickly after the ending of Two of a kind, the twins teamed up with the USA womens soccer team, and they became ambassadors for the womens world cup in the USA in 1999. Together with this, a soccer movie, Switching Goals, was made, which aired on December 12 after several delays.

Now the twins are everywhere. They must be some of the most famous teens in the world. They're set to move over to the UK, where they are already quite popular, and right now they can do anything. Their next movie, 'Winning London', is out now.
